Mental Health Counseling
After a child has been interviewed at Valley CAC, he/she may be offered mental health counseling at our center. We offer therapy to any child victim of abuse and their non-offending caregiver and/or family members at no cost. If the child already has an outpatient counselor, we will assess the family’s needs and review appropriate community resources.
Our full-time licensed counselor, Jodi Myers, has over a decade of experience working with children and teens. She is trained in Trauma Focused–Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which is a treatment approach is used for children who may benefit from additional skills to manage their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors regarding sexual abuse. Jodi individualizes treatment and uses a variety of approaches (including TF-CBT, expressive therapy, and play therapy) to help children and teens heal.
